Introduction
Human beings have always been intrigued by the universe around them. They have explored periods of existentialism throughout history, which gave birth to thinkers, logicians, philosophers, and scientists. Over the centuries, humans have developed various models of the universe based on intuition and perception. In this blog, we discuss five such interesting models that are widely considered by many.
Chapter 1: Materialism/Physicalism
According to this model, the universe is a combination of matter and energy. Everything that we experience consists of some form of matter or energy. This model forms the backbone of cognitive psychology. It suggests that the universe can only be perceived by studying which are measurable and testable. It rejects anything that cannot be observed or measured as unreal or non-existent.
Chapter 2: Quantum Reality/ Observer-Dependent Universe
According to quantum physics, reality may not exist until it is observed, thus challenging the classical notions of an objective universe. The universe depends on the observer to notice, without which everything lies in some sort of probability clouds. In short, according to this model, the universe exists as long as we perceive it.
Chapter 3: Simulation Hypothesis
The simulation hypothesis states that the universe is basically a sophisticated computer simulation created by a higher intelligence or consciousness. Movies like “The Matrix” and video games like “The Sims” beautifully explain this concept, where a higher entity codes the universe as a simulation for lower entities.
Chapter 4: Multiverse Theory
This model states that infinite universes parallely exists, created from each individual choice made by us. The universe keeps duplicating with respect to every action done. This framework expands the concept of reality beyond our observation, giving scope to innumerable unexpected realities.
Chapter 5: Panpsychism / Conscious Universe
Panpsychism defines a single consciousness present within all things, whether living or non-living. This theory encourages non-individuality, indicating that everything is connected and ultimately exists as one. It states that reality is like an interconnected network, with nothing in this universe having an independent existence.
Conclusion
There are many more models other than this, suggested by physicists, computer scientists, and philosophers. Each model is as interesting as the other, creating a scope for more accurate and logical models in the future.
